Douglas M Stokes (  -2022) held a BA (magna cum laude) from Harvard University and a PhD in experimental parapsychology from the University of Michigan. He was a regular contributor to the academic literature of parapsychology and also wrote for skeptical publications such as the Skeptical Inquirer. He published three books – The Nature of Mind (1997), The Conscious Mind and the Material World (2007), and Reimagining the Soul (2014) – which concerned philosophical issues, in particular the problem of consciousness, panpsychism and the nature of time.
