Jim B Tucker, MD, a child psychiatrist, retired as Bonner-Lowry Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia in January 2025. While at Virginia, he continued the work of Ian Stevenson at the Department of Psychiatry’s Division of Perceptual Studies with children who report memories of previous lives. He presented his and Stevenson’s findings in three books, Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children’s Memories of Previous Lives (2005); Return to Life: Extraordinary Cases of Children Who Remember Past Lives (2013); and reissue of both volumes together, Before: Children’s Memories of Previous Lives (2021).
